Rice is a staple food in my house. I believe this is common in many countries around the world. In my family, we love having rice together with dishes like braised pork belly, curry chicken, steam fish or just cook it as congee. There are many varieties of rice available at where I stay and Black Rice is my favorite out of all, second to local grown Bario Rice as well as Parboiled Rice. 

Do you know rice is versatile? You can use it to produce flakes, vinegars, paper, cakes, tea, etc. In addition, besides eating it as food, it can be used as an emergency ice pack simply by filling a sock with uncooked rice and freeze it. On the other hand, you can use it to absorb moisture and unclog clumped salt in a saltshaker aka salt pig.
